KPOP MV: Son Dambi (손담비) Dripping Tears (눈물이 주르륵)
Hi guys! So I added a new feature to this blog. If you would notice, there’s a page dedicated for KPOP only. This would include past and present KPOP songs and videos, as well as dramas and variety shows I have watched. It would also include random stuff like news and interesting things about KPOP stars.
For the first KPOP MV review, I will be featuring Son Dambi‘s Dripping Tears.
Finally, after what seemed like decades, Son Dambi returns with a new song. Son Dambi is one of my favorite solo artists in the KPOP world. For some reason, I find her a really charming person and her songs are almost always really great. She does not only have a really nice physique, I think her voice is actually awesome.
Creating a New Dambi
Dambi has always had this cool swagger in her songs. She decided to level up by a notch by adding an artsy feel to this year’s song. Now, while many compared the video to Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, I think it is safe to say that Lady Gaga herself did not pioneer post-modernist music videos. She might have made them popular, but anyone can totally take a post-modern feel.
I feel like although Dambi has the same statuesque figure and great dancing, she has grown more mature as an artist. The vocals not only powerful, but they are full of emotion.
I’m not so sure about the story line. Let me get some snapshots to create a story for you guys.
“Oh, it’s raining. I’m freezing my ass off.”
Since the boyfriend’s not here, I’ll go party.
Oh yeah, I’m making an entrance with this big feathery thing in my head.
I feel like singing.
WTH? Why is he here? And why is he wearing a lace on that hat?
He’s irritating! Chaaaa!~
Oh my God. I’m totally broke. I can’t pay for that chandelier.
Where am I? Is this a straightjacket? Why does it have pink?
And in a bathtub nonetheless?
So that’s how I think the story went. Nonetheless, the song is really addicting that I played it over and over until I memorized the lyrics. The lyrics are also very touchy. Basically it talks about missing someone that you’re drenched with pain, sadness and tears. The piano parts are extremely amazing too.
The dance of the song is really nice too. I dunno who did the choreography, but I’m guessing it’s Park Kahi (formerly After School leader) because I see a lot of her movements in it. It’s really sexy and catchy.
That’s it for this MV’s review. Here’s a live version.
I’ll see you guys in my next KPOP post!
