Project 52: Otaku Girl (Episode 10)

I am so freaking busy with school. I have time to finish stuff, but I don’t have time to write about it! Ugh.

1. MANGA: Wanted

2. JDRAMA: Nobuta wo Produce

3. ANIME: Nurarihyon no Mago Sennen Makyou

4. SONG/VIDEO: Be As One by w-inds. (Fairy Tail OST)

MANGA

Image from http://www.mangareader.net/1429/wanted.html

I just came across the manga while browsing for good reads. I have basically not into it so much yet because I was very busy the past few weeks. For some reason, work just kept bothering me. With the days of the second semester growing shorter, the work needed to be done increased proportionately.

Anyway, the story centers around a girl named Armelia. When she was little, she sang for the governors and nobles for money. Everybody loved her voice and so they abused it. However, one night one noble stopped her from further singing because he saw that she was tired. This man’s name is Luce. That very same night Luce was kidnapped by pirates. Amelia then swore she would find Luce someday. She then boarded a ship as a guy and found Scar, the Captain. It was then revealed that she was a woman and Scar used to be Luce.

It’s an interesting story. Too bad it only had one volume. If it would have continued, I would have really read it right down to the very last chapter. The manga is written by Hino Matsuri, the same creator for Vampire Knight, which is why Luce looks a lot like Kaname and Armelia looks a lot like Yuuki Cross.

THE VERDICT: Not recommended. Story’s good, but the ending was BLEH.

JDRAMA

Snapshot of Yamapi-kun. Gaaaaaah!~

Gyaaa! I love this Jdrama! Nobuta wo Produce is has the best cast in the world! Who would’ve imagined that the Maki+Yamapi+Kazuya+Eri-chan team would be this good? I honestly love it to bits!

I haven’t finished them episodes, but I think I will the next episode. The story is about two guys (played by Kazuya-kun and Yamapi-kun) who tried to “produce” Nobuta. They make plans on how to make her popular.

THE VERDICT: Yes! You are missing out if you do not watch this anime! Nobuta power!

ANIME

Snapshot of Yuki-onna and Yokai Rikuo. Kawaii~

I finally started Nurarihyon no Mago Sennen Makyou. It is the second installment in the Nura Series. The anime is 25 episodes long and I am about halfway through. I love this season because it has more of the yokai Rikuo in it.

The second season settles the score about the death of Rikuo’s dad. The one bad thing about it is that it focuses on one storyline instead of several stories in the entire season.

THE VERDICT: Not done yet, so watch out for it in Episode 11.

SONG/VIDEO

This is the 6th ending song of Fairy Tail. I love this song! It’s really, really, really nice. The singing is so smooth, and it deviates from the usual happy ending of Fairy Tail. I think so far this is the only ballad-ish song out of the entire Fairy Tail song collection. Yay!

THE VERDICT: Recommended. I recommend w-inds. as well. They’re a really nice group. And they have a collaboration with G-dragon. How cool is that?

That’s it for this week. I will try my best to write the more recent episodes as quick as I can. HELP ME. :x

Project 52: Otaku Girl (Episode 9)

I’m sorry if Episode 9 is delayed. I had a very hard time looking for the song/video.

I basically had the same stuff for week 9. It’s because the materials I got for Episode 8 were not exactly short. The manga has over 20 volumes, the Jdrama is 1100 hours long, and the anime is ongoing and I had to catch up to about 70 episodes to get to the current episodes. The only thing that I had differently this week was the music.

1. MANGA: Fruits Basket

2. JDRAMA: Erai Tokoro ni Totsuide Shimatta

3. ANIME: Fairy Tail (Episodes 50-onwards)

4. SONG/VIDEO: Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge Anime OST Collection

I’ll be writing very shortly about the first three.

MANGA

Image from http://www.anime.com/Fruits_Basket/

I have to say I am super absorbed by the manga. The story is now very interesting. I still haven’t finished it yet. It’s a really long manga. Each volume has about five chapters, and each chapter has about 20-30 pages or so. I can’t wait to finish it though, because I think it’s absolutely exciting.

I kind of can relate to Yuki-kun, although I like Kyo-kun for Tohru-chan a lot better. Yuki is a broken person who pretends to be happy all the time. Personality-wise, I am very similar to him. I can feel his insecurities and his selfishness (he does call it selfishness, so I guess I don’t have to be polite or anything >_______<)..

THE VERDICT: As I said last week, highly recommended.

UPDATE: I cried today, because I finished this! Finally! Buckets of tears~ah.

JDRAMA

Image from http://sinemakorea.wordpress.com/2007/07/14/erai-tokoro-ni-totsunaide-shimatta-i%E2%80%99ve-been-married-to-hell/erai-tokoro-ni-totsuide-shimatta-ive-been-married-to-hell-2/

I finally finished the drama! Ah~

It’s really great. It’s a good series to watch. The series was quite open-ended, but it remained humorous until the end. Nakama Yukie is really so darn funny.

THE VERDICT: Yes! Yes! Get this one!

ANIME

Fairy Tail, Fairy Tail. Ah~

I don’t usually like an anime, manga or series that is ongoing, because I feel like it’s a bothersome thing, but I don’t mind waiting for all the episodes to come out. I just finished Episode 121. This is all there is for now.

THE VERDICT: I wouldn’t get this if it wasn’t good. I’m thinking about getting the manga as well, but my friend said it’s almost the same.

SONG/VIDEO

I had such a hard time looking for the song that I really liked from the Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge anime OST. The one in the video above is Changing by Kiyoharu. It’s my second favorite, but my top 1 is Karattou Ikou~Adios Amigos by Bon Bon Blanco. I really like the group Bon Bon Blanco because I feel that their songs are all very upbeat, but still has a romantic feel into it. Anyways, since I cannot find a YT video of it, I’ll just provide you with a download link. Don’t worry, download here is fast and there’s no need to sign up for an account or whatnot.

DOWNLOAD HERE

That’s it for this episode. I will upload Episode 10 sometime this week. I have my stuff ready for it, I just hadn’t had the time to draft it yet. Until next time then. Ja ne~

Project 52: Otaku Girl (Episode 8)

OMG. I am so sorry you guys. I have been so busy with school work and stuff that I was not able to write about the stuff I had last week and Episode 9 will be delayed as well.

I did manage to finish up some stuff. I just did not have the time and energy to write them. I am still recovering from the extremely tiring work I did for the department event we had last Wednesday. I got tired, but it was a lot of fun. It’s not Otaku related though. I kind of wished it was. Then I would not really mind being a slave. LOL

This week’s stuff:

1. MANGA: Fruits Basket

2. JDRAMA: Erai Tokoro ni Totsuide Shimatta

3. ANIME: Fairy Tail (episodes 48 onwards)

4. SONG/VIDEO: Season – Dream Live 3 (Tenimyu) by Hyotei Gakuen Actors

MANGA

I finally gave up on Vampire Knight. I guess it’s really a great manga, but the scanlations were so bad, I could not understand a thing. If you guys know of better scanlations than what realitylapse provide, please let me know. The good news though is that I finally resolved myself to download the Vampire Knight series. That is, when I finished downloading 120 episodes of Fairy Tail (don’t worry, I have to download about 5-6 episodes more)

Image from http://riceballinabasketoffruit.tumblr.com/

I love Fruits Basket! I loved the original anime when it was shown in the Philippines a few years back. I never got the chance to finish it though because the channel decided to stop airing it about halfway through.

I love the manga, and I have been reading this for weeks now. There’s not a lot – about 26 volumes in all, but knowing the TV hoarder that I am, I have no choice but to set aside the littlest amount of time for manga. I can pretty much finish an 11-episode Jdrama in two day’s time (which in actuality is around 5-8 hours only, coz I skip the opening songs and whatnot), so I don’t have as much for mangas lately. That’s about to change next week, since I am almost done with all 120 episodes of Fairy Tail available. And yes, I did not just download them, I watched them all.

Anyway, this manga is Shoujo. It’s absolutely interesting! The story is about Tohru, a girl whose mom died so she was looking for a place to stay. At first she camps out the woods. Because of an earthquake/landslide incidence, the Souma family who owns the forest land, decided to adopt her. But there’s a problem. Men in the Souma family (well, most of them at least) are under the zodiac curse. When women hug them, they turn into their zodiac animal counterparts.

Even if I haven’t finished the entirety of the manga, I know this is just going to be great.

THE VERDICT: Highly recommended

JDRAMA

Image from http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Erai_Tokoro_ni_Totsuide_Shimatta!

Nakama Yukie is one of my favorite actresses. If you are a fan of mainstream Jdramasa, you would recognize her as the lead in the Gokusen series. I’ve seen her Ring-O: Birthday as well where she played Sadako, and she’s a very well-rounded actress I think.

In this story, she plays Kimiko Makimura, later Kimiko Yamamoto, a girl who married Isojirou Yamamoto. She was brought to the house of Yamamoto where she is surprised about a lot of Japanese traditions she had to encounter. Above all that, her mother in law is very misunderstanding. She does not understand that Kimiko hates their traditions and way of life, and thinks of it as a way of Kimiko trying her best to learn their ways. Kimiko also does not notice, but even if she hated the traditions, she enjoyed being in the company of family.

THE VERDICT: I’ll tell you in Episode 9. This is a beautiful Jdrama though. If you want to learn more about traditional marriage arrangements as well as other common traditions in Japan, you would learn a lot from this drama.

ANIME

What can I say? Fairy Tail is my favorite drama this week, last week, and probably for another month. I even took screenshots while watching. I’m thinking of compiling them into an album. What do you guys think?

THE VERDICT: Recommended to the Infinite-st level!

SONG/VIDEO

Although it’s not the anime version, I really love this song from the live action version of Prince of Tennis. There’s about 7 Dream Live Concerts, and this is the only one I watched. Anyway, this has the best actors in all Dream Live Concerts because the characters were really portrayed well.

I don’t think anyone is allowed to play Atobe other than Kazuki-kun.

This song is very beautiful. Suteki~

THE VERDICT: Love it. Absolutely. The other songs from Hyotei are absolutely amazing as well!

That’s it for Episode 8. Please watch out for Episode 9 tomorrow and Episode 10 sometime next week. I will do my best to catch up to all writing. Please watch out because I will try to be really active this week.

Project 52: Otaku Girl (Episode 3)

Episode 1 (here

Episode 2 (here)

Hi people! It’s been a battle for me this past week. I have been a little busy with life and stuff, and I had a sudden gathering with friends that left me feeling woozy today, but I will try my best to finish this post!

This week’s stuff:

1. MANGA: Wish, Watashi no Ookami-san, Gakkou no Ojikan

2. DRAMA: Jigoku Shoujo Live Action

3. ANIME: Ouran High School Host Club, Beelzebub, Bleach Season 2,

4. SONG/VIDEO: Dadada (Group Tamashii)

MANGA

You guys know I go overboard. I tried reading short mangas this week, but I failed and ended up reading three mangas. Two of them I haven’t finished, the other one I finished in one sitting.

Image from http://passing-fancy.com/blog/2011/07/16/wish-by-clamp/

Wish is a manga from CLAMP (makers of Card Captor Sakura, xxxHolic, Tsubasa Chronicles and such). The story is about the angel Kohaku who went to earth to search for the wind archangel Hisui. Kohaku was saved by Suichirou Kudou from a cat who attacked her. She wanted to grant him a wish, but being a successful doctor with everything he needed, he did not have any wish. The story has great twists and interesting characters, and I like this best for its emotional and humorous mix.

THE VERDICT: RECOMMENDED. I WOULDN’T SAY IT’S THE BEST, BUT IF YOU’RE BORED, BY ALL MEANS READ THIS.

Image from http://www.mangafox.com/manga/watashi_no_ookami_san/v02/c004/1.html

I thought I downloaded a complete version of the manga, but I didn’t and so I am not done with this one yet. This one I highly recommend for people who like RPG and comedy, because it feels just like it when I read this.

The story is about Komomo, a hero with a Level 0 rank. She wants to build a dream house, and that is the reason why she travels to save towns in order to earn money. The demon king, Subaru, quit his demon king duties because he wants to be with Komomo, whom he admits he fell in love with.

THE VERDICT: I LOVE THIS! I LOVE MANGAS WITH A LOT OF COMEDY!

Image from http://myanimelist.net/manga/1911/Gakkou_no_Ojikan

The manga is on-going so I couldn’t say whether I like the ending or not. Nonetheless, I love this manga. This made me “eeek!!”, “awwww”, “WTH?”, “OMG! OMG! OMG!” and all that excitement phrases I use. This falls under school life romance category, and the twists are really interesting. This made me smile like an idiot while reading.

THE VERDICT: IF YOU CAN TAKE SHOUJO JUST FINE, THIS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR YOU.

Total Manga Volumes Read This Week: 13 volumes

DRAMA

Image from http://www.dramafans.org/drama/jigoku_shoujo_live_action

Two words: Kazuki Kato. The guy on the farthest left is the reason why I downloaded the drama. If you check Episode 1 of this Project, I already featured Kazuki-kun in the Song/Video part. He’s not only an amazing singer, he’s a really cute actor as well! OMG. Isn’t he just the most perfect person in this world for me?

(*after about 20 minutes of fangirling and daydreaming*)

Anyways, I love the live action. I don’t love the editing of the video, and I don’t love it as much as the anime, but the anime is a fantasy anime, and the people behind the live action did their job pretty decently by selecting good actors and keeping things as close to what the anime should have been.

THE VERDICT: GO AHEAD. JUST DON’T FALL IN LOVE WITH KAZUKI-KUN. HE’S MINE.

ANIME

I still have the usual Beelzebub, Bleach Season 2 on Animax, and I decided to go have some Ouran on the side. No need to do reviews here, since you guys already know what these animes are.

THE VERDICT: NOT DONE WITH ANY OF THEM. BEELZEBUB AND BLEACH ARE ON-GOING, WHILE OURAN’S NOT YET FINISHED DL-ing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL THOUGH.

SONG

I am still obsessed with last week’s Movin’ and I sing it like crazy everyday, but I also love this first opening from Beelzebub. The song’s called Dadada by Group Tamashii. I love this song to bits because it sort of has the rock in it, and the video corresponding the opening in the anime suits the song really well. GYAH!!!

That’s it for this week’s Episode. If you’d like to learn more about the stuff I read, watch or listen, please follow me on Twitter @theworriedbunny and please be so kind to like the official Facebook page of this blog.

Catch you guys later!

Project 52: Otaku Girl (Episode 1)

If you did not know the rules of this project, you may refer to this post here.

For Episode 1, here are the things I got:

1. Alice 19th (Manga)

2. Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge Live Action (JDrama)

3. Beelzebub (Anime)

4. Easy Go – Kazuki Kato (anime song from Katekyo Hitman Reborn)

Shall we start?

MANGA

Image from http://www.justmanga.com/jmprod/alice19th3

The manga has a total of seven volumes, and I finished reading all of it in a span of four to five hours (That’s how persistent I am, lol). I loved the story of the manga. It’s not a really big manga, and it is very shoujo (anything appealing to or leaning towards girls), but the simplicity of the story as well as the drawing was fantastic! Hooray for the manga this episode!

The story is about Alice Seno, who saved a magical rabbit. She was given a bracelet and was told that she is a Lotis master-to-be. Lotis is a powerful magical art where the words you say have a very deep magic. There are 24 words in all, and even if you know them, you cannot just use them. You have to master how to use them along with your emotions as well.

Alice has a sister, Mayura, and they both fell in love with Kyou Wakamiya. Mayura however, confessed to Kyou ahead of Alice. As Mayura realized Alice feelings for Kyou, she tried confronting Alice, and when she does, Alice wished that her sister would disappear. Her sister was swallowed by the Mara (opposite of Lotis). She must now journey to the inner heart to save her sister, as well as people around her who are affected by the Mara. She is helped by the Lotis guardian Furei who is from Norway and Christopher William Roland who is from Great Britain. In the process, Kyou also becomes a Lotis master.

Mayura is possessed by Daruba, and only the secret words can save her. No one in the Lotis group know the secret words, but Alice, through her love for her sister and her courage, find out what they are. In the end, it’s all bright and happy.

The manga is average, but the story is quite good, and it has that mythological feel in it, which I absolutely love, as I am a fan of mythologies. As I was reading, I was reminded of Rick Riordan and his works, especially the Kane Chronicles.

Some of the graphics were quite confusing, and even the story became confusing at some point for me, but I think that’s because of the words I did not really understand, and the fact that I rushed into the entire volume in one go.

THE VERDICT: Recommended

LIVE ACTION

Image from http://wiki.d-addicts.com/Yamato_Nadeshiko_Shichi_Henge

I loved the anime version, so I knew I would absolutely love the live action! Plus, it has Kamenashi Kazuya, one of the best actors in Japan, so I knew it would be great. Not disappointed at all, though I had to spend long nights in watching the video, and I was so sleepy the next few days.

If you guys did not know, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge is a story of four handsome boys living in a mansion. They are actually renting the place. The owner of the mansion gave them a task of transforming her niece, Sunako Nakahara into a lady, and in return, they would get free rent. The transformation seemed impossible, because Sunako is drawn to dark things like skulls, dead creatures and blood. She is just creepy. In the process of transforming her into a lady, one of the guys fall in love with her. Guess who played that guy? Yup Kazuya-kun!

I love the live action, and this in fact, inspired me to do this project. I watch a lot of Korean dramas, but I love the more exaggerated features of a Japanese drama, and because I found my spark again, I probably would put off the list of Korean dramas I would be watching.

THE VERDICT: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. DO NOT MISS THIS DRAMA. IT IS TOO AWESOME.

ANIME

Image from http://myanimelist.net/anime/9513

OMG, this is my top anime favorite for 2011. The episodes ended on Animax last Wednesday, but the anime is not yet done, so I wanted to know what would happen next, but I might wait for Animax to air Season 2, but I am not really counting on it since Animax also stopped airing Fairy Tail, which has about 100+ episode now, and they stopped around the 50th ep.

I found a site where I can download all the anime I want though, and I am going to download the coming episodes of Beelzebub and of Fairy Tail as well.

This is a comedy anime. What attracted me most was the baby, Berubo, who is just so cute, and the story is so interesting. I am currently hunting down a manga version of the anime (if there ever is one). I will let you guys know if I get to read anything like that.

THE VERDICT: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY TO LAUGH UNTIL YOUR GUT BURSTS

ANIME SONG

Image from http://www.jpopasia.com/celebrity/kazukikato/lyrics/easy-go/home::24890.html

I love, love, love Kazuki Kato, and it is impossible to hate any song of his especially with the voice he has.

The song Easy Go is the third [?] sixth[?] not really sure opening song of the anime Katekyo Hitman Reborn.

Here’s the official music video

And here’s the Katekyo Hitman Reborn version

I have never seen the original MV until now, but Kato looks hot as expected so it’s not really surprising to me. I have been following this artist for more than two years now, and I first encountered him in the Prince of Tennis Live Action Concert a.k.a. Dream Live 3. I am a huge fan of his character Atobe, and his portrayal was so close, I fell in love with his talent!

Anyhoo, I have been listening to him and girl band Scandal mostly these days. I will do a full feature in Featured Asian when I have the time soon.

THE VERDICT: RECOMMENDED. I actually recommend his other songs more. I love his ballads, as it exposes his full talent more. He is one of the top singers in Japan, and his songs rank high in the Oricon charts so def check him out!

That’s it for this ep! I am so excited for ep 2, and I am now scouting for what I would feature next week!  I think I might finish another manga, but I don’t think I would finish any anime or Jdrama soon. Yay! Yay! Yay!

Catch you guys later!
